If it was the royal family's own money being spent, then I have no problem with it in and of itself (that any family can have such wealth is another matter). One the one hand, using the NHS would be a "vote of confidence" in the system... but on the other hand there'd be accusations of taking up an NHS bed and resources when they can afford to go private.

Though as it's a report from the Scum, I'm fairly confident that even the journalist isn't quite sure what point he/she is trying to make... just print £800,000 in big bold letters and watch the papers fly off the shelves!
