19 year old rail enthusiast here.

I've recently watched all episodes of 'keeping Britan on track' and I've watched all series 1 and up to date on series 2 of 'the railway; first great western'

Watching both these great series has been a great time spender for me and although it might put some people off its made me more willing to work on the railway.

However I really would love to watch some more series/one off programmes about the rail network/trains or even any documentaries if anyone has any suggestions and where to find them (mainly series though as I want a lot to watch) and if you're going to suggest a documentary it would be great if it was about modern Trains or the modern railway thank you.

Like I said any suggestions off great things you've watched I would be greatful for

There's the Sky1 documentary about East Coast trains; sometimes repeated on Pick TV or Sky2.

Otherwise the Tube is a good watch, most episodes available on Youtube.

Geordie back from exile.
This thread has reminded me of 2 fantastic documentaries which were on TV, now on YouTube. Running to Time about the development of the Class 91 and another programme on the development of the InterCity 125.

Both interesting shows, well I think so anyway :) , which show the development of some of the workhorses of the British railway scene for the last 20+ years. Not modern per se but a good background into how they came about.

There are plenty of videos of different types in this post which I did a few months back.

All of them are relatively recent, there's a few from the early 90s but many still have recognisable scenes from today's railways.

There was a 3 parter called "The Fifteen Billion pound Railway" on the beeb recently - all about crossrail etc, worth a look.

Not about the UK railway but Railroad Alaska on Discovery is another to add to the list.
