Hope your doing well Ses16 and congrats on the news. I just wanted to ask you. Are the OPC tests fairly hard? The reason why I'm asking I also been invited to the OPC online test just got the news today.
Hey! And congrats! It’s hard to say tbh. Some people can do them and some people can’t. Best advice I can give you is get as much practice and info as possible. I’ve read through countless posts on this forum and they all prepared me for what to expect.

That’s my advice to you, use the search function on this website for whatever assessment you have to do. Read up on user’s experiences and put enough practice in (Especially for the group bourdon)

I think VSE results only last for 6 months at the most. Ultimately in most cases you have to do it again as its part of early sifting and not part of the actual Assessment center tests that are stored on the OPC Database.
This is correct. I had this confirmed to me by the OPC. 6 months

Hey guys, just got my invite from arriva for an OPC online test. Since I have already done all psychometric tests with the OPC directly, do I respond to the recruitment admin that I have done all tests directly with the OPC and to check with them for my results?
It seems they may be making everyone resit the tests. It's very frustrating.

Same position as quite a few others here, got an invite but already completed the OPC assessments.

Did everyone get a deadline of responding by the end of today?

Yes I also received that deadline!

I've completed all OPC assessments with the exception of the VSE, so I definitely need to do that.

I wonder how many people applied for these roles...Does anyone know?

Is it a bad sign if I’ve not heard anything yet? Really confused as everyone seems to have been sent a test or a rejection!
Am I on a hold pile or something? Is that a thing? Or do they send out tests and rejections in batches?

They closed the vacancy early so I think its safe to say they got a lot of applications.

Qualified is currently 70200 and a pay offer for this year has been offered. Training rate is usually around half. I was a trainee with overground. So it's probably around 35k.
What are the benefits with Arriva Rail London please?

What do you want to know. I left two years ago but it won't have changed much. I'm also seeing my mate later today and he is still Willesden based.
So I will answer what I can now and find out anything I'm not sure about later.

Why did you leave if I may ask? I’ve got a few options with some other toc’s but most of the opinions on this forum seem to portray that ARL (LO) has the best pay and t&c’s

Don’t mind a PM, if you’d not share publicly.

Also can you choose to work in willesden instead of New Cross Gate? As during the application there was no choice of that.

I'd have thought so, yes. They do sometimes just leave the application status as it is, 'in progress' and without a notification detailing successful or unsuccessful which means unsuccessful.

Ok thank you!

Fingers crossed my application hasn’t just been abandoned lmao, a solid no is way better than being left up in the air and unsure.

Quoted time frame to hear back is 2-4 weeks, so there’s still hope. Bear in mind they have thousands of applications to sift through.

“No news is good news“ I’ve applied too a few toc’s and I’ve always found that saying to be true.

I took a pay cut for better work and a better commute. I haven't anything bad to say about overground and it is decent pay. Will be close to 75k very soon. I don't think I have worse t&C's now though. I am not sure about choosing between Willesden and New Cross , although one of my ex colleagues would have been New Cross and managed to get a swap before we passed out. I think they generally put you in the closest depot.

Thanks again

Hello guys on Thursday 6th of July I have been sent this following email “We are very keen to get to know you better and we would like to invite you to an online test with an external provider - OPC. To get you set up, we will need your Date of Birth, Postcode and National Insurance number. Please fill in the details below before close of play Friday 7th July.”

I sent the requested details immediately via Email after receiving it. But I'm confused as people in this forum have done their online OPC tests. Is it the case that I need to wait until Monday for them to send it or is my application paused for the time being?

Can anyone clarify?

I applied for the role at Marylebone (Chiltern) and Willesden junction.

Chilterns made me do the VSE last week and I'm still waiting to hear back.

For the Willesden Junction I got the rejection email.

I'm thinking to call Alexandra to see if she would give me another chance if I pass the VSE with Chilterns. I've passed everything else to Enhanced with GTR and waiting for a DMI.

I already failed the DMI with GWR, SWR, Colas rail and DB Railfreight.

Everyone pray for me please. I am so close but I wasted 1 year like this.

some have already sat the opc assessments for another TOC or when this role was previously advertised a year ago and had done the tests. so they hold valid passes and can technically skip this stage and go straight to the driver manager interview. Obviously with a few differences here and there (vse or no vse etc)

I doubt it as I don't think there is discretion. It has to be a fair system. Also good luck getting hold of her.

Four day week , but at overground it's an average. It averages out to 34 hours. So you might do five in a row and a day off and then another five or six then a long weekend. There are many different links at Willesden and different rest day patterns. Earliest book on was 04.15 and latest off around 01.30 when I was there.
