Don't have access to a Freightmaster, but looking for how many freight workings there are on the above, specifically those that pass Marcheys House and Winning SBs - either per day, or per week. I know freight will reduce dramatically due to the closure of Alcan, but trying to find out what future usage will be.

Three remaining freight flows up there:

1. coal from Tyne Dock/North Blyth to Lynemouth power station
(typically one train a day, but times vary from week to week)

2. Alumina from North Blyth to Fort William, via run round at Newsham
(three trains a week)

3. coal from North Blyth to Ferrybridge, Cottam, Drax and Ratcliffe
(one/two trains a day, times vary from week to week)

So still fairly active despite the closure of the smelter, but you need
to pick the right day/time to visit, as there can be gaps of several
hours between trains!

Cheers for that Mark - still quite well used. Probably will have a drive up one day, but was mainly looking to see how many workings were still running.
