Avanti off peak fridays help

I am looking to booking a train from london euston coming to liverpool lime street on 13th June which happens to be a Friday.

I am looking at sometime after 15:00pm. On trainline and LNER there are options for off peak single or any time single. Which option do I go for? Would off peak cover me for a train at 5pm or 6pm if I needed to get that instead?

An off-peak single is valid any time Friday, and is cheaper than an anytime single, however you may find an advance single which restricts you to a specific train for less.

If you use Avanti direct Euston to Liverpool Lime Street, they have no peak time restrictions on Fridays so the Off-Peak Single is valid all day.

I need a flexible ticket tbh as I am not sure when I will reach London Euston after 3pm to be honest.

If off peak single is valid any time friday why is there option of anytime single too at a much higher cost too?!

There is no practical reason to want to buy it. However in theory, the Anytime Single would be needed if you wanted to depart Marylebone or Paddington in the evening peak, as the Friday 'easement' only applies to Euston.

You may want to return at a time when the Off-Peak ticket isn't valid.

It is only valid at any time from Euston. There are permitted routes from other stations that are not vaid all times on a Friday

You dont have to be on a direct train

We can give you chapter and verse on this, but to try and be brief, changing travel patterns which even pre-dated Covid but were amplified after them resulted in expensive “peak” trains running almost empty whereas cheaper “off-peak” trains were rammed on Avanti services to/from London Euston on Fridays. Avanti scrapped the restrictions on Fridays only and now the traffic load is spread more evenly across the day. For once a good result for everyone.

Yes, you can.

However, since the Off-Peak Single costs roughly 70% of the Off-Peak Return, it's probably worth buying a Return if you are coming back within a month.
