Wolves applicant, rejected after SJT, can’t say I’m surprised as it’s a toughie passing Avanti’s process, got another application with Chiltern in process which is more straightforward. Good luck all

Congrats! That’s great news

Did you wait long for the email invite from when you completed the VSE and M7?
I completed it on 23rd of March which was also my deadline date, so three working days in total! not bad. Unlike First Group which taking more than three months to process the online test for trainee tram driver, very unprofessional.

Yeah that’s not bad at all, good luck at Watford!

Hello, I hope you don't mind me asking, did you get an instant response after the sjt ? Or did it come via email after sitting both ?

Hello all, apologies if this question has been asked. Does anyone have any idea on how long the wait is within the talent pool if you are successful? I can imagine it could be quite a while as I have noticed some people who are waiting 2+ years! However, unable to find any information for talent pool waiting times for Liverpool Depot.

I just wanna say I relate massively with this, as unfortunately for me the worry nerves did take over and I feel like I didn’t do great…

Also like you I found the part 3 strangely easier and for some reason part 2 I couldn’t seem to get my head around yes meaning error and no meaning no error and kept clicking the wrong button which only further pissed me off cos I really want this job :(

I did however find that using my mouse to visually check vs doing it in my head helped massively
Fingers crossed for you mate, I've kind of prepped myself for a fail and just bounce back re apply in future.
I know I'm capable of passing it, I was more upset with myself than anything for making more mistakes than I know I am capable of.

You know what I did for part two, cut out good and bad on paper and stuck them at the bottom of my screen. That way I didn't need to care about yes and no. I then found myself muttering like bloody rain man - track - fine -good, track - fine - bad... next... ahaha. Missus probably thought I had lost my mind.

All in good fun ey!

If you get to DMI I’d brush up on which train companies are part of which group….first group own Avanti

You aren’t wrong but its a partnership with Trenitalia.

Pointing this out to Harvinder not yourself.

Interesting update from the OPC that may affect other applicants too.

They are withdrawing my application because I recently sat and passed the MMI interview. You cannot sit both CBI and MMI within the same 6 month period even if you pass.

My journey for Avanti ends here. Lucky I have other irons in the fire.

Good luck to those proceeding!
Oh well, I’ve just done a DMI for a different TOC having passed the MMI guess that’s me out! I’m a Wolves applicant and heard nothing since the 1st 5 tests so maybe worth contacting them or if I get as far as the VSE May be worth getting the practice in 1st!

Completed VSE etc yesterday. Probably got all correct in 1 & 2 but struggled in part 3. Maybe got 5 wrong on the shape bit. See what happens.

There's no exact amount of time unfortunately. Some stay for days or weeks, some for months, and some never even get a job offer.

The only rule with talent pools is don't quit your current job until you pass your medical and sign your contract

You know what really threw me off, the actual size of the images and buttons. I was expecting full screen an it was like 3rd of the screen lol
Yes!!! I missed the first clicks on both tests two and three because I had to move my screen down to see the buttons even though it was only covering about half of the screen left to right! ‍♂️

I completed the initial 5 tests on the 14th March. And on the 28th (my birthday) I got an email saying I was unsuccessful, but had no 28 day email, no correspondence until yesterday. Gutted, but everything happens for a reason.

I ran out of time on the last question of the m7sjt, but had put my answers in the boxes, does this matter? Does it save my answers?

Thanks mate! We’re both capable, we’ll get there one day! If we miraculously pass, what depot did you apply for? The paper trick is a great idea, I feel like I should’ve played some kind of game that involves matching before hand just to get my head in the zone… Hindsight’s a bitch ey

Finally did my VSE an M7 last night. First time ever applying.

I will keep a slight hope until I get my rejection, but in my mind I feel it will be a fail. No point dwelling I will have to keep an eye out for other TOC's or catch the next recruitment drives.

I do feel, although this sites great to get info and have a chat with like minded people, it can also be a hinderance as we then start to over prep and over think and worry nerves can take over. Anyone who hasn't had their M7 VSE more than happy to discuss my experiences still. But I feel it would have been better for me to go in less aware of what I might encounter if that makes sense.

Part 1 - found easy
Part 2 - I made maybe 6-7 errors could have been more didn't really track it. Just felt I had made too many so what will be will be.
Part 3- found it easy again (as I had likely settled my nerves) and I reckon I made maybe one track mistake at most and maybe 2-3 max signal errors.

(How the hell I found the easy part hard and the hard part easy I will never know lol)

M7 - found it straight forward and easy going. Most questions felt fairly obvious the odd one had me second guessing myself. I did have old m7 practice questions so maybe that is why I found it comfortable.

Best of luck to those still in the hunt
Are you able to link those practice questions?

I had bought them few weeks back for practice on the last 5 assessments stage. Only cost me like £7 was able to use them for the mag7 practice too

I got them on howtobecome website, they are not like for like obviously but were very similar in approach. Meant doing the real one felt quite calm.

Edited: i must stress the practice papers will not give you answers to the real thing or provide any way of falsely passing. It purely helps you get used to the format and how to break down the choices using your own judgement and get used to decision making without lingering on questions for too long.

There is a vse software out there too thats similar, but its basic and wont help that much other than being familiar with how it works. Search youtube
