Reportedly only being "guarded" by managers yet, no agreement on train managers for the required conversion course. Would have thought that would have broken dk1s rules for impressiveness...
Which would explain why it did Manchester - Euston first thing, spent the day at Wembley and then returned to Manchester in the evening instead of whizzing up and down all day.

have the onboard announcements changed from the irritating virgin ones which miss out the last station whilst calling the stopping pattern (very annoying aha)

Is it on the same diagram all week?
I have no idea but looking at RTT it appears to have had a diagram created for it especially. The unit that forms 1R02 normally then forms 1F12 08:07 - Liverpool. This morning it just went ECS to Wembley and stayed there until approx 18:00.

God those things are so terrible. Way too loud and chipper at 6am or 10pm and they play them far too often.

Strange post 469 earlier, then, how do you reconcile them? (Post 469 reports the new set working 1F12)

The diagram the set worked today would normally have formed the 14.30 to Glasgow (after the 10.47 from Liverpool arrives) but instead its gone to Wembley.

The STPs for the same diagram to go to Wembley are in RTT tomorrow and Wednesday, therefore this suggests it'll be working 1R02 / 1F12 / 1A25 / 1H04 again tomorrow and Wednesday. It is not 100% certain however that it will work these (I'm just going by RTT) so I wouldn't go by my word and start booking stuff (for the purpose of travelling on it) incase it doesn't end up working them. The STPs may be cancelled so it might not operate those services again but they are in RTT. You'll have to find out on the day for definite.

Agreed, very innovative and look forward to trying it out - just a shame it’s not yet ready for use yet!
Just waiting for the connection to the water recycling plant (direct from the bog) to be installed. ;)

That's quite bizarre then.

How do I account for it? Me being stupid by the looks of it. I did an RTT search earlier in the day for that unit and its next working was shown as Wembley - Euston. Tracing it now RTT shows it as working 1F12 but the return working was unallocated, as was the ECS to Wembley so I made an incorrect assumption it had gone straight to Wembley.

Thank you, I quite understand where you came from, but it's nice to be able to sort this out!

Nice video here to appreciate the refreshed standard class. Still has that warm cosiness.

I have to say that the Pendolinos are really our only class that can compete with European stock to give that true InterCity Express feeling. All the 800x just feel like people-movers to me. No magic to them.

Can anyone confirm if the lightining really does change tone throughout the day?

The set did go to Liverpool as well today, so it didn’t just go sit in Wembley all day. It was also worked by “graded guards” as opposed to managers, at least on said Liverpool run.

I see VT Red still remains on the toilet door then!

Noticed on one of the Twitter pics that the ceiling is littered with CCTV cameras - probably about 10 per coach - why so many?

Press release, with some decent interior shots: https://newsdesk.avantiwestcoast.co...ils-as-part-of-uks-biggest-ever-train-upgrade

Also includes images of the seat occupancy being displayed on the PIS, as well as the seat occupancy cameras mounted in the ceiling. And wireless chargers on slippy looking tables, should be lots of phones on the floor

It's connected to the seat occupancy system.

Was on it just now, it's fairly nice. Very tired now though, long couple of days. More thoughts later.

I didn't realise that was a permanent VT thing - I always thought it was a RAM thing similar to the Desiro's on long distance services, where they have a long pause while the rest of the calling points load!

Looks fresh, I like it! Nice to have plugs and USB A at every seat,

You mean power sockets - why do so many people describe them as 'plugs'? The plug is the thing on the cable which you plug into the socket.

I am a bit surprised not to see USB C on some conversions, but I guess as they're small they may be a lot less robust so USB A is likely to be around for a long while yet.

USB-C is a lot more complicated. Yes, they could just replace the socket face with one with USB-C sockets but that would mean that fast charging wouldn't work and devices such as tablet or laptops with a high power draw would charge very slowly or not at all. Proper USB-C chargers have a number of voltage and current levels and the correct one is selected by negotiation between the device and the charger. Putting this into trains would make the charging circuits much more complicated, and increase their maximum power draw considerably.
