My records have 390104 having gone into Alstom in July - I presume this is back out now?

Should be but I’ve just checked 104 on RTT and it’s not in service
With respect, that’s nothing significant. There are fifty-six Pendolinos and not all are used every day, especially with the current shocking timetable. It may well have been refurbished and released, and yet just happens to be unallocated today.

I knew it’s been released as I have it on my list as being done. I was just saying it wasn’t in service. I must of worded wrong, my bad.

It appears that 390 104 has also had a vestibule refurb: https://flic.kr/p/2nQqeot while it was at Edge Hill. Looks much more neutral than the voyager vestibules. Doors are still grey inside. All virgin coach letters on doors inside are gone too.

So I was able to experience refurbished sets on on both legs of my return trip from London to Liverpool on Friday.

It is definitely an improvement albeit a light touch one.

The new seats in standard are comfortable and having a socket at each seat will be welcomed by passengers. I was sat in standard premium for the journey to Liverpool and i'm not sure the wireless charging was working. I didn't try the wifi on either journey because i'm so used to it being rubbish.

The only part of the refurb I didn't get was the shop. There isn't space to display most of the products so you can't see what is for sale! Not a well thought out design.
The member of staff serving me from Liverpool mentioned that something might be in the works to improve the situation.

390103 moved from Widnes to Longsight last night under 5H88. It'll most likely be stabled tomorrow for an exam before coming into passenger traffic later this week.

390115 is now in Widnes.

Currently on 104. Seats very nice with the headrests particularly good, though the armrests are too low if you’re tall (I’m 6’2”). Wi-Fi working well but no hot drinks in the shop!

Just had a rather interesting and lengthy chat with a member of the Avanti retail staff on a certain service (refurbished).

They’ve informed me that all the new 390’s should be getting their new free water-refill stations installed on Thursday

Am currently on one of the refurbished 390s and am underwhelmed regarding passenger environment. The seats seem harder with lower seat cushion and higher seat back giving an even more claustrophobic feel. The wings on the seat back also restrict a view of the screen at the coach end. The shop has a reduced display area and the working environment for the shop attendant may be longer but there’s no more shoulder room.

Having been on a number of trips in the refurbs now, it seems that the 4G signal is not so good as pre refurb.

Also the wifi is not great (not that it ever was).

Has anything changed? Or am I imagining it?

Has anyone heard much staff feedback regarding the refurbishment? When I went on one a while back the person behind the counter claimed there was no consultation or input from the staff about the design of the onboard shop, and it does seem like the product options have been so drastically reduced because of the design. It certainly feels like there is less choice at least.

Part of the ceiling structure that was plywood has been replaced with aluminium. More durable and easier to clean, but not so good for phone signal.

Signal is worse on wifi in first.
