For the first time ever, ATOC have put the full fares CD-ROM on their website in the public area.

It's on http://www.atoctravelagents.org/ click the link "Avantix Fares NFM95 Win98"

For years they did not want us to see this info!

ATOC were absolutely petrified at the thought that passengers could easily work out the cheapest combination of fares. They were distraught at the possibility that passengers could actually see the restriction codes on Savers, and passengers may be able to avoid a big "ching" by seeing what is cheaper. The thought that they'd be as open as a supermarket was unimaginable, but finally they've given us what we deserve and should have the RIGHT to see - and that is the conditions and fares that they expect us to abide by.

So, I suggest you download this and if you want to know the restrictions on your ticket, it's no longer a secret - you can look it up yourself ! :)

Downloaded and will be trying it out shortly!

EDIT: First fare I will be looking up is Knighton - Edinburgh Waverley.

a warning from a well-respected travel agent "Avantix does not feature any 'late' fare changes, i.e. those since December. Additionally it sometimes does not show a restriction where one would apply (it's a program error or something), and it sometimes lists promotional or specialist fares (group only fares for example) so just because it's there, doesn't mean you can get it."

Other interesting things include, typing in any old station on "Origin", typing in a rover as Destionation and hey presto, a fare for a rover.

Very nice, thanks for mentioning this yorkie. I do wonder if its maybe not intended for public consumption so would suggest it might be a good idea to get it while you can.

You could be right.

Imagine the scene at ATOC HQ tomorrow

Boss: "How dare you upload the fares for the public to see!"
Employee: "But, boss, why shouldn't they see the fares and conditions?"
Boss: "Well, imagine Tesco revealing the price of their goods on their website, and imagine if they told you the ingredients! No, they'd never allow it"
Employee: "But, boss, they do..."
Boss: "Oh.. well, we are ATOC! And I defy logic. You're FIRED! Damn those passengers! How dare they know their rights! Right that's it, we're putting fares up again!"

;)

No, what is it? I notice Aberdeen-Penzance for 5p in first class too.

How do you get rovers and ranger to work btw?

I've got quite a few to work. You need to type in an applicable station.

Try Norwich with Anglia Plus, for example.

FOSW/FOSS doesn't work.

Is there possibly anyway of getting this anymore, seeing it has been removed from the website?

The Centro travel cards are very interesting.

However the ranger/rovers are very annoying not working without knowin the magic station origin as Holyhead doesn't work on North Mid Wales

Surely Crewe would work there?

Some fares are absolutely ridiculous...For instance, it costs me MORE to go from Knighton to Linlithgow than it does to go from Hereford...Anyone know why that might be?

Then there's Hereford to Dover Priory (these are all journeys I either want to make or are thinking about doing one day). Usually fares that involve going to Reading or London from Hereford are cheaper via Evesham. Not in this case...It's cheaper to go via Newport, usually the much more restrictive and/or expensive way!

Another crazy one is Hereford to Newcastle. Costs the same as a HFD - EDB or HFD - Linlithgow SVR! £72.75 with a Y-P FYI.

Man this software is a God-send!
