Good point. I might do a marketing leaflet to my customers and see if there is any interest in this. Could be a money spinnerOr a piece of paper in the front window with the service number written…
How they survive? There depot is a poky muck hole and there buses are dishevelled whilst drivers are on £10ph, that’s how.
It’s not just avondales who get the cast offs, but it also set a bleak future for public transport, nothing is changing for the better in Glasgow and these small operators gently add to the problems with the lack of quality transport in Glasgow, particularly if public bus transport is to be re-enabled as an important part of our future against global warming and reducing local emission levels. The place for drivers that have been sacked/blacklisted from every other bus company.
Normally I would agree but not on this occasion. Other than the work/life balance they really don't offer up much good from everything I've read in terms of working for them. The main reason their buses really pick up anyone is concession passengers exist and their buses tend to be right in front of First's most of the timeI'm not entirely sure if I'm comfortable with this putting down and demoralising of drivers who might have been dismissed and in some cases unfairly from the major operators who are at times notorious for their unfair treatment of workforce. Casting aspersions like this is surely not good for morale in the industry and makes a message board like this look bad as well
I seem to remember Stagecoach being criticized for this practice in the 90's when they were trying to out muscle local authority operators. Seemed to have worked out pretty good for them. The main reason their buses really pick up anyone is concession passengers exist and their buses tend to be right infront of First's most of the time
Yeah I see the 400 quite regularly and their buses seem to be more frequent again. The timetable just says every 30 mins or less. It's definitely closer to 15-20 mins at worst.I seem to remember Stagecoach being criticized for this practice in the 90's when they were trying to out muscle local authority operators. Something to do with the age of their fleet? It's a low cost operation and that brings a different set of problems. You could perhaps have balanced that by asking why First have so many vehicle fires given that they have had at least 2 in the past few months that I know of.Another Avondale bus broke down again on the 400 yesterday, I don’t get why it’s so common for their buses to break down a lot more than First or McGills.
And do you have statistics to back up that Avondale have more breakdowns than first?Another Avondale bus broke down again on the 400 yesterday, I don’t get why it’s so common for their buses to break down a lot more than First or McGills.
Not really, but I’ve seen a lot more Avondale Buses break down more often. And do you have statistics to back up that Avondale have more breakdowns than first?
You’d be surprised at the amount of breakdowns there are at First Glasgow everyday….Not really, but I’ve seen a lot more Avondale Buses break down more often.
If you think of it in a ratio of vehicles versus the total number of vehicles in the company I'd imagine Avondale's looks much worse especially when you think of how infrequent Avondale's very few services are too at the minuteYou’d be surprised at the amount of breakdowns there are at First Glasgow everyday….
Aye the age of the fleet will be a factor. Their “newest” bus is from 2008. With the majority of their fleet being 03, 54, 06 and 56 plate Darts or East Lancs Esteem’s.Something to do with the age of their fleet? There’s like only 2 of them left, the rest haven’t been in service since 2020.Aye the age of the fleet will be a factor. Their “newest” bus is from 2008. With the majority of their fleet being 03, 54, 06 and 56 plate Darts or East Lancs Esteem’s.
What do they have from 2008? The fleet today is made solely of dartsAye the age of the fleet will be a factor. Their “newest” bus is from 2008. With the majority of their fleet being 03, 54, 06 and 56 plate Darts or East Lancs Esteem’s.
