More 142 spotting today on the Bishop Auckland - Saltburn services. Lots of happy people getting on at Middlesbrough, standing all the way.

Anyone know if there are still 142s in Arriva livery?

Presumably most of them will be losing their livelihoods soon with the closure of Corus, so they won't be able to afford rail travel much longer and the overcrowding will cease :(

Well Redcar town centre is supposed to be dead, so I guess there is still people going to Middlesbrough. However itself was named as one of the hotspots in the UK for closed shops.

Hopefully steel prices will pick up again and the plant will be reopened. Funny how we can bail out the bankers but not save something useful. The Tyne has just been announced as a new factory for wind turbines which need steel - but not from Redcar it seems.
