On the contrary, I think that Blackadder has aged very well.

I'd agree with that, i'd also add that Blackadder Goes Forth was by far the best, but each to their own.

By the same token, 'Allo 'Allo! seems to have aged very well, for me at least.

I'd say that, too. Three and Two are also good, though - especially 'Beer' in Blackadder II - and The Black Adder - though not as good, has its moments (Miriam Margolyes is good).

Red Dwarf.

I like lots of other comedies but nothing comes close, you won't find one with a better 'cult' following I don't think. Talking about Red Dwarf is all I can remember from my Year 9 French lessons.

We don't talk about Red Dwarf much. ;)

Generally:

-most of the girls talk about Miranda
-most of the boys talk about The Big Bang Theory

...and that's about it.

That's all teenage boys ever think about.

I'm not sure that many of my lot are capable of thinking. I think they'd like The Thick of It; they swear like Malcolm Tucker, though not for any political reasons; they just do it because they know the words.

Of course, if The Thick of It has a few famous lines, then Yes, Minister is infinitely quotable. Another brilliant sitcom.

Jim Hacker: I'd like a new chair. I hate swivel chairs.
Bernard Woolley: It used to be said there were two kinds of chairs to go with two kinds of Minister: one sort folds up instantly; the other sort goes round and round in circles.

I've met the Red Dwarf gang (minus Rimmer & 1st Kryton), they are great.
It is one of the best. However I honestly didn't enjoy seasons 8 & 9.
Hyperdrive is half good half dull, but well worth a watch too if you like Dwarf.

The "April" Fools joke that Holly did on Red Dwarf is a highlight of TV comedy!

One Foot in The Grave is great.

Anything written by the incomparable Galton and Simpson, both still with us, but in particular Hancock's Half Hour and Steptoe and Son. Fawlty Towers hasn't really dated: how wise to ditch it after 13 episodes, or whatever it was, rather than produce slightly inferior follow-ups.

Dads Army was a childhood favourite, early Last of the Summer Wine, (There are those who say I get my sartorial inspiration from Compo). The later series just over played what became a tired joke. Fawlty Towers, I think it was John Cleese who said no more after the second series, a wise move in hindsight.

For me Dave Allen was brilliant, funny and totally irreverent, I would also add the first 2 series of Monty Python and Blackadder, especially the Bishop of Bath & Wells !

In first place Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister. Simply brilliant writing and acting.

Porridge and inevitably Fawlty Towers for joint second choice.

And yes Drop The Dead Donkey, forgot about that.

I'd have Faulty Towers, Father Ted, Peep Show, The Mighty Boosh and Blackadder as my top five, all original and still funny, we've made some fantastic comedy in this country over the years.

Inbetweeners, Blackadder, not sure if League of Gentlemen counts, Peep Show and outnumbered was great.

Still Game.

A shame the BBC never released it outside Scotland. I accidentally came across it on youtube and have since watched the whole series at least 5 times over. Well recommended for those of us south of the border if you've never seen it. Give it a go.

In my collection, Fawlty Towers, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, Blackadder 2,3 & 4. Hancock could be hit and miss but The Blood Donor (A pint? That's very nearly an armful.) and The Radio Ham (Mayday? What's he talking about, it's nearly June.) are classics.

London, Surrey... bit of a blur round here...

It is one of the best. However I honestly didn't enjoy seasons 8 & 9.
Series 8 suffered from too many characters and too many multi-episode storylines. Series 9 was terrible, but series 10 was pretty good - back to the series 5 and 6 sort of days. Quite looking forward to what 11 will be like when that comes out later in the year!

(Given that the first Kryten only appeared in one episode (with the actor appearing in a second one later on), I wouldn't worry about not having met him!)
