The place or the TV series?![]()
I've the box set and could watch over and over again. First Movie also great. second movie has some great bits but overall was average.
The series - I must admit, I've not visited the location as yet![]()
The series was the nearest I've got to the place too. Wendy Richard is the connection between the original 'Being Served' and 'Benidorm' - I must admit to having had a soft spot for her at one time. My excuse is that she wasn't very much older than me!
Oh, I do quite enjoy Benidorm !
First few series were okay but it has become sanitized over the last couple of series and lost a lot of the major characters through death and departures.
I gather it's been going on longer than I've been watching it !
I've just started a rerun of Nighty Night, perhaps the blackest comedy ever, starring and written by the lovely Julia Davis. Not for the faint-hearted.

That's what I meant - hardly a massive difference, is there? I knew that we wouldn't actually have seen him jump.I've got the book of original scripts and the originally proposed ending was Father Kevin (who was the priest on the ledge threatening to jump at the beginning of the program) returned to the ledge but instead of Ted talking him down he says 'Move up Kevin' and joins him on the ledge. No suggestion that Ted would actually have been seen jumping like Denholm Reynholm in the IT Crowd.
Got to be about 8 or 9 years I would have thought. In the earlier days it was far more politically incorrect with loads of expletives, illicit fornication, smoking and drunkenness.(and much funnier !!!)
The earlier series was Lacking in swearing, to the point it was shown pre-watershed. Any review you can find online (except yours) says it became as you described when it was lengthened to 1 hour shows. The earlier 30 minute episodes were rather tame but still funny all the same,
Mel and Donald have passed away, The Garveys have left along with several other key characters.

Whatever has happened the last two or three series have lost the plot and become tame compared to the middle era.

The last series was ****. I think around series 3-6 were the best ones.
