I've the box set and could watch over and over again. First Movie also great. second movie has some great bits but overall was average.

I preferred the second movie to the first, I'm planning to watch them again on the youtube when I get the chance.

The series - I must admit, I've not visited the location as yet

The series was the nearest I've got to the place too. Wendy Richard is the connection between the original 'Being Served' and 'Benidorm' - I must admit to having had a soft spot for her at one time. My excuse is that she wasn't very much older than me!

I've just started a rerun of Nighty Night, perhaps the blackest comedy ever, starring and written by the lovely Julia Davis. Not for the faint-hearted.

When was she in it? I know they have a lot of cameo's, but I can't remember when she was in it.

First few series were okay but it has become sanitized over the last couple of series and lost a lot of the major characters through death and departures.

I gather it's been going on longer than I've been watching it !

Got to be about 8 or 9 years I would have thought. In the earlier days it was far more politically incorrect with loads of expletives, illicit fornication, smoking and drunkenness.:p (and much funnier !!!)

That's a classic. I need to watch those again.

I've got the book of original scripts and the originally proposed ending was Father Kevin (who was the priest on the ledge threatening to jump at the beginning of the program) returned to the ledge but instead of Ted talking him down he says 'Move up Kevin' and joins him on the ledge. No suggestion that Ted would actually have been seen jumping like Denholm Reynholm in the IT Crowd.
That's what I meant - hardly a massive difference, is there? I knew that we wouldn't actually have seen him jump.

The earlier series was Lacking in swearing, to the point it was shown pre-watershed. Any review you can find online (except yours) says it became as you described when it was lengthened to 1 hour shows. The earlier 30 minute episodes were rather tame but still funny all the same,

Whatever has happened the last two or three series have lost the plot and become tame compared to the middle era.

Mel and Donald have passed away, The Garveys have left along with several other key characters.

Jackie and Donald were my favourites. I miss them and I also bet the Middlesbrough Swingers Association is not the same without the jovial couple.

Without him actually dying in the episode it didn't rule out the possibility of at least a special at a later date, even though the writers weren't planning another episode at that point.

I think it was in the opening of the first episode of series 3 that we didn't see the usual titles and saw Ted in a new parish in Dublin which gave the impression series 3 would have some new characters but then the accountant asked Ted about what he had put expenses claims in for and he is shown returning to Craggy Island.

The last series was ****. I think around series 3-6 were the best ones.

Watched the reboot of Till Death us do Part which was about as offensive as an episode of Peppa Pig

Sanitised and completely watered down it was pure unadulterated garbage.

Like to see a reboot of Love Thy Neighbour - now that would be a giggle <D

Agreed the middle years with all the swearing, smoking , lewdness and other material lily whites would choke on their granola at the prospect of.
