Planning to visit a few people next week round the South West and trying to come up with the cheapest option for the following:

Flitwick to Bournemouth - Monday 12th
Bournemouth to Yeovil Junction - Tuesday 13th
Yeovil Junction to Plymouth - Thurday 15th
Plymouth to Flitwick - Saturday 17th

So far i've come up with (all with Y-P card):
Flitwick to London Thameslink Off-Peak Return £21.30
Waterloo to Bournemouth Advance - £11.10
Freedom of South West 3 in 7 - £52.15
Westbury to London Super Off-peak single - £19.60
Total - £104.15

Could anyone get cheaper than this? I'd be happy to go a slower route if it saves a fair bit, but I can only buy an advance for the journey to Bournemouth.

Thanks in advance :)

I think what tom3107 is suggesting is good, as if he was to buy an advance to Brockenhurst, from what I can see he would be using his rover on all four days, and it is only valid for three. I think what he has come up with is an excellent combination, unless any of the fares experts can suggest anything different.

You're quite right. I've withdrawn my previous post, since it is incorrect. The OP might be able to save a few pence by buying a £10 London- Bournemouth Megatrain ticket (currently available on the 05:30, 09:05, 11:35 and 21:05 departures from Waterloo, but subject to availability), plus 50p booking fee.

The full cost isn't covered as there is no explanation of how the journey between Paddington and London Thameslink will be made on the return journey. Subject to this, singles between Flitwick and London Thameslink work out slightly cheaper than the Off Peak Return, due to the return journey being on a Saturday when the Super Off Peak is available.

Perhaps tom3107 has an Oyster card, or on the way down its not a long walk from Blackfriars South Entrance to Waterloo.
