Hi,

We were looking to take advantage of the London Midland £10 anywhere offer.

We were hoping to go to Leamington Spa from Hereford, but the 2nd leg of the Journey, Birmingham to Leamington seems to be only served by Chiltern and Cross Country and I believe the offer is only available on London Midland trains.

Can anyone advise if there are any trains out of any Birmingham Stations to Leamington on a weekday?

There appears to be a route on the LM network (http://www.londonmidland.com/your-journey/our-route/?=) but it does say 'Limited LM services'.

Thansk in advance.

(P.s - great website - it's been bookmarked!)

LM used to run an hourly service but it was withdrawn... actually it might have been withdrawn by Central Trains, I'm not too sure.

There are now only a few peak hour LM trains ot Leamington - the ones mentioned above, and there's also a 0702 from Snow Hill too.

If it's any use to you, you could take the LM train to Dorridge, then change at Dorridge, and pay for the last bit to Leamington - £4.80 off-peak return.

The 17:35 from Snow Hill goes to Leamington Spa but that would be a peak train.
as does the 17:57
The 18:45 does (and is off peak)
and lastly the 22:57 does

Sorry if this sounds pedantic but I think it's important info for people to know:

There isn't really such thing as a "peak train", as such.

Off Peak tickets have validity codes which refer to conditions about when the tickets can/can't be used. The wording can be crucial. In this case, we're talking about a promotional ticket that has no restriction (other than from London Euston; not applicable here) however if a 'normal' point-to-point Hereford to Leamington ticket was used, the Off Peak ticket is valid at any time at or after 09:00.

In other words, there is no 'evening peak' for this journey, regardless of whether a normal Any Permitted point-to-point ticket, or Great Escape promotional ticket, is held. Of course, if the journey was made on a combination of tickets, then that would change!

The hourly service was withdrawn in Central Trains days when Chiltern increased the frequency of the Birmingham to London service to 2tph. It would make sense for LM to take the route back over on an hourly basis (and extend a Dorridge train like they used to) as Chiltern have started a 2-hourly Birmingham to Leamington semi-express to try and fill in the gaps of the express services now missing out Warwick, Hatton, Lapworth and Dorridge. As LM still stable a few trains at Leamington (as Central Trains used to), that's why a lot of the morning peaks start from Leamington and the evenings terminate there.

It's also better to change at Solihull and get a ticket from there to Leamington as not all Chiltern services stop at Dorridge now (it's still only £4.80 off-peak return). There is also the 10p less option of traveling from Coventry to Leamington by XC - £4.70 Anytime Day Return, though that train is only hourly.
