Looks like a little bit of an accident, guessing maybe the lorry reversed into the tram? Doors look a bit battered!

“A tram and a lorry collided in Birmingham city centre, disrupting rush-hour traffic.

The crash on Broad Street brought several bus and tram services to a halt.”

Transport for West Midlands (TFWM) said: "Due to a collision on Broad Street in Birmingham city centre, buses are at a stand on Broad Street, and [trams] are unable to operate between Edgbaston Village and Library."

Looks like the junction of Broad Street and Berkeley Street. It looks like the lorry may have been turning into Berkeley Street and attempted to take the corner wide and caught the tram with its "tail swing".

It doesn't appear to be significant damage, so as long as a replacement door is readily available all may be well.

I didn’t notice the big long scratch at first. So a couple of panels and two sets of doors, but could be a lot worse I guess!

Guessing the truck driver was turning left and failed to take into account the swing of the rear.

Just the quality driving we’ve come to expect from HGV drivers these days.

Looks to me like tail swing from the Lorry has hit the tram whilst turning.

If the tram was being the lorry when the lorry started turning then the tram driver is at fault, we don't know what happened so we cannot condemn either.

The tram would have been travelling in the opposite direction to the lorry. The drivers cab is in the undamaged segment of the tram, on the right hand side of the picture. I am 100% confident, based on the photograph alone, that the lorry driver is at fault.
