Last night (Sunday 4th September2011) Illuminated Frigate 736 worked a special from North Pier to Little Bispham and back to Rigby Road/The Manchester, on what was possibly the working of the year!
The tram ran STERN FIRST all the way from North Pier to Little Bispham and back to Rigby Road/The Manchester. Passengers had to board and alight on the track side of the tram on the journey! (The conductor on board made sure passengers boarded and alighted safely and did a grand job, in my opinion).
This working occured when it is believed Western Train 733+734 broke down and the Frigate was running behind. The tram had to reverse at North Pier and worked the special to Little Bispham and back in order to get the tram facing the right way for the follwing day's illumination tours (stern into depot).
