Boris Johnson experienced a typical day of commuting in the north this morning when he was stuck on a delayed train.

The Prime Minister was spotted waiting for a train at Manchester Victoria station earlier today.

However, unlike most normal commuters, Mr Johnson was accompanied by a police escort.

It is understood he caught a First Transpennine Express train travelling to York, but there was a hiccup which meant the train was delayed around 25 minutes.
Interested to see the train carrying the BoJo circus around Manchester was delayed.

That's karma for you

Snigger...

It looks as though the outward leg from Middlesbrough was restarted from York, due to a lack of driver. BoJo delayed awaiting inward crew and TOC request, suspected to be BTP involvement. Perhaps the circus was late getting to town?

Honestly dissapointed he hasn't experienced 13/14 or Castlefield.

He could enjoy being shouted at not only by the Northern Plebs, but Network Rail's red line shouty people.

You saying the British Transport Police delayed Boris or that they insisted some train crew be found in order not to delay Boris further.

Is there a railway equivalent of the Bermuda Triangle somewhere on the network where he could disappear and never be heard of again?

Yes, it’s called Northern rail, which makes it even more of a shame that he used TPE.

Do Northern have first class? He is after all privileged enough to demand such respect that an Etonian deserves. :)
Good perhaps we will get NPR aka HS3 and other improvements now
I doubt that he or any government he has control of will do anything about NPR, - except use it generate a couple of sound-bites before December 12th.

No I wasn't suggesting that...sorry if that's how it read to some. Part of the delay was a "TOC request", which then went on to suggest BTP involvement. It could be that with knowledge Boris was travelling BTP would've had a discussion with TPE regarding travel requirements.

Shame he couldn’t have used a Northern class 150, so he could see the modern ‘refurbished as new’ trains that Northern are keeping.

What service was he travelling on ? No doubt it was delayed en route further & probably in the Leeds area too. It seems many, if not most, TPE services between Manchester & York are regularly delayed by 20 to 30 mins due to congestion, train crew etc

Could he maybe get a train to Sheffield and linger around platforms 2/3/4/5 and get a taste of the thick cloud of sickly diesel fumes? Maybe then he’ll insist on Sheffield receiving some 25kV wires!

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's a Liverpool to Scarborough service operated by a Nova 3, aka class 68 and Mk.5 carriages.
