The main non Berlin studio location used was the town of Gorliz- so possibly there?

Goerlitz is a delightful town and well worth a visit, right on the border with Poland. It's been used in quite a few films: as well as The Book Thief; others include The Reader starring Kate Winslet; and The Grand Budapest Hotel. It has a large multi-platformed station, larger than is now needed for today's train service, so could well have been used for filming?105.
