Have all the First vehicles that were on loan / hire gone back now?

YES:
These logs were from Jan from daveballntyn55 who posts on Yahoo groups: Send ALL praise and thanks to him>>.

A few changes over the festive period have seen the final vehicles returned to First (the agreement was that that the vehicles loan term was only until December 2017) and 6 routes and 5 vehicles acquired from BARC Travel (Hughes & Gibbs) Peebles.

The final vehicles returning to First were 20302/7, 32672, 65749; the 2 coaches were returned a few days after the schools finished (21-12-17) and the buses a few days after that but all were gone by 31-12-17.

As far as I understand 4 Solos (YJ11 OHW, YJ57 EJA, SLZ8614, VIA1647) and 1 E200 (MX13 KTK) have been acquired with the BARC routes 54,74,90/1/3,P32 which have a PVR of 4 buses; 54 and 74 are worked by the same bus as are the 90 and P32.
I haven't been up to Peebles as yet but the 54,74 Galashiels routes are being worked by 11119 YJ11 OHW which has had the BARC Travel names removed and Borders Buses names added. The normal vehicle used was (10614?) SLZ8614 and this was at Gala depot today with Borders Buses fleetnames but I couldn't see a fleetnumber to confirm if it was 10614.
Work is being carried out on the ex BARC vehicles before entering service with Borders Buses plus I understand (11322?) MX13 KTK has a failed engine; the fleetnumbers I assume will be the next in the series which going by my records may be (unless other added vehicles carry them) 10310? VIA1647, 10614? SLZ8614, 10729? YJ57 EJA, 11322? MX13 KTK (11119 YJ11 OHW is confirmed by my sighting).
To cover for unavailable vehicles (including 11710 acc damaged, 11704 burnt out, 11228 engine rebuild) on loan from Berwick is 10701 MX07 NTU and from Glasgow Citybus is 11202 YX61 ELU plus 11714 YY17 GSO has returned from paint float duties at St Boswells with repaints stopped just now (Versas 11301/2 were completed before the end of the year) . Also seen during the week was a MB / MCV (number unknown) operating an X95 whilst on loan from St Boswells.
To confuse matters further Craig vehicle 11017 YJ60 GGX is also present at the moment whilst receiving MOT prep but is not being used in service.

By my calculations fleet strength at Gala should now be 48 vehicles -
Known fleet at January 2018 was

10301/2 YN03 NHX/Y (Vo /Pn) (2)
10310? VIA1647 (Oe Solo) (1)
10614? SLZ8614 (Oe Solo) (1)

11514 YN15 EKF (Sca/Ir) (1)
11619-21 YN66 BBV/X/Z (Sca/AD) (3)

11729 YX67URP (Vo/Pn) (1)
Total 47
41105 YR61 RVM (Sca/Sca) (1) on loan

Livery as at Jan 2018

UPDATES
NETWORK CHANGES
Service 71
Could all customers please note service 71; Galashiels to Melrose via Langlee will soon be withdrawn. The last day of operation will be Saturday 12 May 2018.

Unfortunately, there has been little demand for the service.

We appreciate some customers will be disappointed by this decision. However, we would ask them to recognise we cannot allocate resources to services that are poorly used.

To ensure we maintain a bus service in Langlee we will adjust the route of our service 74.

From Monday 14 May, service 74 shall depart the Galashiels Transport Interchange via Currie Road ASDA, Netherdale to Queen Elizabeth Square.

Two routes will be operated, one via Huddersfield street/Borders College and the other via Tweed Road, Currie Road ASDA and Netherdale to Queen Elizabeth Square.

This will be an alternative hourly service between 0800 – 1700 Monday – Saturday.

The new service 74 timetable is available for download for our timetables page.

Please note: Lowood Bridge re-opens at the beginning of June and service 60, 67 and 68 would revert to its normal route between Galashiels – Langlee – Melrose via Borders General Hospital.

Service 72

Could customers please note on Sunday 13 May 2018, Scottish Borders Council will withdraw its service 72; Melrose to Bannerfield via Borders General Hospital (BGH).

We would like to assure customers journeys to the above locations can still be made by traveling on service X95 (Edinburgh to Carlisle via Hawick and Galashiels) and 73 (Galashiels to Bannerfield). Both routes will allow connections at Galashiels Transport Interchange for forward travel to BGH.

From Sunday 20 May, service 73 will run five journeys each way between Selkirk Bannerfield and Galashiels for connections to and from the BGH. SBC information leaflets are available on bus or at Galashiels Transport Interchange.

For alternative bus services please see below timetables:

Monday - Friday timetable

Saturday timetable

Sunday timetable

Tickets:

Through tickets for Selkirk/Hawick to BGH will be available from either service 73 and X95.

The new service 73 timetable is available for download from our timetables page.

Tickets between Selkirk and Borders General Hospital:
Single £3.20
Return £4.80

Tickets between Hawick and Borders General Hospital:
Single £5.60
Return £10.10

Borders Buses app tickets*:
Single £4.50
24 Hour £7.99
Weekly £39.99

*Travel across the full network, no exceptions. Day and Weekly offer unlimited travel.

Service 54
To compliment service 74, changes to the bus times on service 54; Galashiels to Balmoral Road will take effect from Monday 14 May 2018.

New service 54 timetable available for download from our timetables page.

Service X70
Changes to the Peebles section of service X70 will take effect from Monday 14 May.

To maintain reliability, meet demand and tackle congestion issues (mainly parked cars), service X70 will now only serve Whitehaugh Park and East Gate.

New service X70 timetable available for download from our timetables page.

Surprised that 72 coming off, It was over bused on some sections. maybe there should have a small solo connecting with the 73 just before Kingsknowes, Roundabout, with it could run the hospital. For the over 45mins? im sure something can be found.

The 72 is coming off because Scottish Borders Council have withdrawn their support for the service. Passengers from Hawick and Selkirk travelling to the BGH will take the X95 to Galashiels Interchange and change there to the X62 (through fares are being offered). Selkirk passengers also have the option of taking the 73 to Galashiels Interchange.

Busker's service 61 will be rerouted in Melrose to provide a replacement service for the Dingleton Road area of the town.

NETWORK CHANGES
On Monday 02 July 2018 we will be making amendments to our bus network.

The changes are based on service demand and maintaining reliability. The following provides a breakdown of each service, plus some frequently asked questions relating to bus services in general.

WHAT CHANGES ARE BEING MADE?
Service 62 (Galashiels to Clovenfords)
Two evening journeys between Galashiels and Clovenfords, Monday to Saturday, will no longer operate. View new timetable.

Service X95 (Carlisle to Edinburgh via Hawick and Edinburgh)
We are introducing an additional early evening journey from Edinburgh to Galashiels, 1650 Monday to Friday and 1655 on a Saturday.

We are also adding two early morning journeys, 0610 from Galashiels to Edinburgh on a Saturday and 0815 from Galashiels to Hawick on a Sunday.

The last journey (Monday to Saturday) from Edinburgh to Galashiels has moved from 2300 to 2225.

The last journeys from Galashiels to Hawick Monday to Thursday (0025) and Friday and Saturday (0025 0055) have been withdrawn.

The X95 departing Galashiels for Hawick (Monday to Saturday) will no longer serve the BGH at 1955.

For alternative travel Monday to Thursday from BGH to Hawick and Selkirk, customers are advised to travel on service X62 2022 to Galashiels Transport Interchange. Connections can then be made to Hawick and Selkirk on service X95 2055.

For Friday and Saturdays, customers are advised to travel on service 67 1959 to Galashiels Transport Interchange. Connections can then be made to Hawick and Selkirk on service X95 2025.

On a Sunday a through service from Edinburgh to Carlisle has been introduced.

Timings have been amended for better rail connections.

We have amended the departures timings of our early morning and evening journeys. View new timetable.

Service 235 (Berwick to St Abbs via Eyemouth and Coldingham)
An extra journey - 1600 Monday to Saturday - from Berwick has been added. This returns from Coldingham at 1630.

Minor amends to timings have been made due to the reduction in running time between Eyemouth and Coldingham. View new timetable.

Service 253 (Berwick to Edinburgh via Dunbar and Haddington)
Due to poor usage Coldingham, Dunglass and Crownhill (Southbound) will no longer be served.

Customers in Coldingham have the option to travel on service 235 for local and connecting journeys. Ayton has now been added to the route.

The Berwick to Innerwick section of the route has moved from hourly to two hourly. An hourly service remains Dunbar to Edinburgh. View new timetable.

Service 267/464 (Berwick to Wooler)
To improve punctuality we have made some amends to the timings of this service.

Both services have been extended to serve Morrisons, North Road. View new 267 timetable.View new 464 timetable.

Service B1 (Berwick town service)
Despite on-going communication regarding the low usage of the B1 in the evening, the service continues to be underused and we have been left with no alternative than to remove the evening journeys. No change to day service. View new timetable.

It was reported over on Facebook because a bus brokedown three jounreys on the 253 were not operated over the course of the day. Its seems even the Berwick depot was so short it had nothing to send out...

Once again another one of the 253 journeys failed today because of optare single decker, mind you the Berwick depot doesn't seem to look after its buses... There is a major house development going on at Haddington right on the main bus route which will surly benefit this and the X7.

Recent service cancellations for Glasgow will mean that from after the Easter holiday the Glasgow Citybus operation will be down to just the 15, 17 and Station interlink service. Even the 142 appears to be going, that was the last remnant of the services taken over with the John Morrow business.

Glasgow Citybus have grown and shrunk a few times over the years, but it always seems like a well-run operation. All the de-registered stuff is tendered. Going by the end date (July – the time SPT tend to retender) it’s more likely they’ve lost the work than given it up, but it’s possible they’ve just decided to focus on their strongest commercial routes and Citylink.
