Was looking through BR training videos on YouTube and came across this one from 1990 titled Safe to Save, it's intended for the emergency services and covers track access procedures, etc.

It's an interesting 20 minutes or so for someone like me who doesn't work in the railway industry but has an interest in how things work (or used to).

there are alot of great clips on youtube, anything from a documentary on waterloo station from the 50s, to to really tacky NSE training videos. Fantastic stuff.

There's even some on there that look like they were made in the last few years (do all TOCs place their training vids on Youtube now?)

Anyone seen an lists of them with links grouped by topic? I've seen some vids but unless I have an idea of what search terms to use, it's a little pot luck as to what I find

My particular favourite is the CrapBRVideos channel - if only for the extremely witty descriptions.

This also introduces the ubiquitous Paul Tyreman into shot. Paul is the stalwart of 1990s BR training videos, before going onto fame with two episodes of Coronation Street, a Swedish beer commercial and was last seen hosting the class 180 drivers fault finding video, which in hindsight should probably have been a feature film.

At this point, Paul is in despair 'What the hell do I do now' he asks the camera. Well Paul, you do what everyone does, claim it was a door fault, put a really spurious entry in the defect book, and give the minutes to fleet.

Oh, definitely! I clicked on this thread just to see if anyone mentioned that channel.

My favourite line is:
The video starts with a Western style stand off (the sort between a cowboy and an Indian, not between hydraulic and electric transmission) between a driver and his new steed.

I wonder if anybody here would know where I could find the videos entitled What's In A Word and Aspects of Danger? They were about a few years ago on railnetchannel.tv but that looks like it's cleared its library.

That certainly is vintage. I didn't get to watch it on my track access training!

Not sure if it's been linked on here previously but the , Melbourne Metro video, and associated public safety campaign has not only been successful in reducing incidents but also creating a saleable commodity. The video is said to 'have gone viral', has spawned parodies and licence to use the characters have been sold to an insurance company.

I'll let you form your own opinion on the approach.
