Wonder if anyone has more info on this? Was on the 14.33 Middlesbrough to Saltburn when we we stopped at Redcar Central due to a bridge strike at Redcar East. After around 15 minutes it terminated and ran back as the 15.16 to Bishop Auckland. Went I got to Darlington the platform staff hadn't heard anything about it.

Quite a common occurence unfortunately, must have seen a similar scenario on that stretch half a dozen times in the last 2 years or so where the service just forms the next westbound.

Funnily enough, it seems to happen to me quite often with the Neasham Road bridge just outside Darlington, generally involves being stopped for 10 minutes or so while they get a gang out, then we proceed on a 5mph caution. Maybe it is me, some sort of bad luck charm?

I was beginning to think it was me! Was coming back from Wales last year, in the space of 4 hours I had a bridge strike, then bustitution, a cancelled train, missed connection and a fatality in Birmingham.

It was actually quite funny at Redcar, the conductor did an announcement to apologise and said it was due to a lorry striking a bridge, then a woman sitting next to me told someone over her mobile that the trains were "on strike" between Redcar and Redcar East. Must be the shortest industrial action I've ever seen!
