The former Arriva bubble car 55032 is being offered for sale.

Currently at Aylesbury depot the unit is for sale by tender, with all offers having to be in by 12.00 on 30 March.

Nope, It is former ATW 121032 as previously used on the Cardiff Bay shuttles. Chiltern did initially purchase it as a source of spares, but have decided to sell it on for preservation.

They originally said it had been purchased for spares, then there were rumours that it would be used for route learning/test work, replacing 960014 (the blue & grey one) which is getting very ropey. Now it is up for sale. It seems to be in fair condition although it hasn't been started up for several months. Not sure what state the wheelsets are in.

It doesn't necessarily mean it will be sold for preservation. It is still main line certified so it could be sold for departmental reuse, but that is probably the less likely outcome.

I'm very doubtful of this "Bought it for spares" rumour, I never saw any official confirmation, and Chiltern had paid for it to have a new fluid fly wheel fitted before we had it at Llangollen for our gala.
