Bus routes between major towns and other

Leigh in Greater Manchester has no rail station and a 45,000circa population. It has routes which link the town to the following railway stations:-

Atherton - 582, 583
Bolton - 582
Newton-le-Willows - 34
Earlestown - 34
St Helens - 34
Wigan - 8, 9, 10
Horwich Parkway - 516
Hag Fold - 583
Daisy Hill - 516

I think I'm going to limit the map to towns of 20,000+ (or possibly higher) and places of particular interest (e.g. Land's End and John o'Groats) as otherwise it's something which could quite easily take weeks or months to finish.

I did say that I'm not particularly interested in routes paralleling rail routes (unless the bus wins on speed or frequency such as north of Inverness) - although I know that most of Teesside lacks direct trains to Newcastle and Durham (and I'm counting metros and trams as rail services).
I would suggest that in limiting your map to towns of over 20,000 that you will have some significant white patches especially in more rural parts of the south west, East Anglia, Northumberland, Scotland and Wales
