That's what my records indicateLooking back through the thread I think that means all (601-612) except 720608 have been used in passenger service. Is that correct ?.
I doubt that, the 387s were only ever going to be temporary and were intended to be kept clean and tidy for use with a new operator. The 720s, as far as I'm aware, are permanent. It's just a question of if they still want to keep the mileage down to 'keep them nice' or to reduce the impact of faults while the miles per defect improves.
They haven't, it's pink not red. It's just the same pattern. Why spend extra money on something when you don't need to?If they are permanent why have they got GA seat moquette?
Originally they were to be identical as c2c got a good price due to them being a continuation of the same spec and same production lines. At some point though, management changed their mind about a few things and the cost increased as a result. If they are permanent why have they got GA seat moquette?
So, begs the question. Where is 720608 ?That's what my records indicate
Maybe having its 'please check if anything is loose under here' stickers taken offSo, begs the question. Where is 720608 ?
fingers crossed this means an extra in the AM as well.Another evening peak working -
1F04 1644 Fenchurch - Shoeburyness
2B29 1759 Shoeburyness - Fenchurch Street
Wrong allocation on RTT however platform screens are displaying 10 coaches

They should be on the Saturday Ockendon / Tilbury services at 5 car from December timetable change.No. It isn't clear that they are going to work weekends.
Only one of the driving cars, the other is an unpowered trailer AFAIK (DTSLW). Was this the carriage with the accessible loo? If so, that’d explain it.Correct me if I'm wrong - isn't there supposed to be a powered bogie on the driving cars of 720s? If so, 611 already has a set of traction motors isolated!
Ah yes, it would have been the one with the accessible toilet I think, so that would explain it!Only one of the driving cars, the other is an unpowered trailer AFAIK (DTSLW). Was this the carriage with the accessible loo? If so, that’d explain it.
Could these be driver training runs?Whats the purpose of the 5P96-99 runs between Shoeburyness and London? Are these meant to be 720 runs?
Such a waste of twelve capactious, expensive units. It infuriates me.c2c december timetable changes released: https://www.c2c-online.co.uk/media-...=Facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=Orlo
The following peak time services Monday-Friday will be 10 car 720s
Up Morning Peak Services
0406 Thorpe Bay - Fenchurch St via Ockendon
0703 Southend Central - Fenchurch St via Rainham
0721 Leigh on Sea - Fenchurch St
0731 Thorpe Bay - Fenchurch St
0739 Shoeburyness - Fenchurch St
Down Evening Peak Services:
1716 Fenchurch St - Shoeburyness
1743 Fenchurch St - Shoeburyness
Also use of 5 car 720s on Ockendon services at weekends rather than 8 car 357s
Ah that would make sense. After all the motors and bogies are same packages.Only 345s are different. 710s are broadly the same as 701/720/730s. I suspect it's the same traction package but the frequency curves were changed. Normally that's done for interference prevention reasons.
Any particular reason why there's only two services in the PM peak? Must admit I thought they'd mostly replace 12 carriage 357 services.
If that's true though, why are they not being utilised as such in a timetable change?Maybe the clue is in the Ockenden workings at weekends. The 5car 24m sets are similar length to 6car 357. Perhaps they are more efficient at shoulder peak working as single units where a 4car would be insufficient, but 8car is overkill.
The 357's are 4-car sets. for the weekend Ockenden services, the number of passengers from Chafford100 for Lakeside shopping 8-car 357 are really needed. It's a single line, so limited scope for increased frequency.Maybe the clue is in the Ockenden workings at weekends. The 5car 24m sets are similar length to 6car 357. 720 608 is booked on the 17.16 off Fenchurch Street today, with 720 604.Has 720608 still not yet entered service? If it has, can anyone supply first day, please? Many thanks
