TfW noting cancellations on the Cambrian Line tonight, cited to be “a fault with the signalling system” however some trains are still running eventhough they’re advertised as cancelled and some showing as cancelled tomorrow morning. 21:47 from Machynlleth shows as being terminated at Barmouth tonight. Anyone know what’s going on? Potentially an excuse for stock shortages again or maybe adverse weather?

If trains are being cancelled, nothing's going on. Signalling problem. Why disbelieve it ?

Because the trains were still running as well as being advertised as cancelled concurrently. You can’t have it both ways!

Could it be that because of a signalling problem somewhere else, or at a time earlier, there were trains with no Guards available, so would be showing as cancelled, since they could not carry passengers, but running as Empty Stock to get in the right place to return to passenger service?

Real time trains shows 2004 Bham International - Aber cancelled Mach due to "the signalbox not being open". Looks like they had some notice of this as while the 2147 Mach-Pwhelli was cancelled at Barmouth they ran an additional ECS at 2005 from Mach to Pwllheli as if they needed to get unit to Pwllheli before signalbox/line closed.

And looks like 0507 Mach Barmouth was a planned cancellation this morning, so perhaps unit off 2147 ex Mach last night stayed at Barmouth?

It specifically noted “signalling”. Therefore, if it was a staffing issue, I’m sure it would have been listed as such, as it often is. Trains were still running, which would have made the case of staff displacement fairly unlikely and that’s the point that didn’t make sense.

As we have been told, it was a signalling issue, the Box wasn't manned; end of.
Do the words really matter?
Is it possible that the message between the controls said there was a problem at Machy CC and didn't stipulate what it was until later?
Sometimes these things happen as we are dealing with people.
I really cannot understand what all the fuss is about or why you see it as a conspiracy.

I may be wrong but cancellation reasons as well as delay reasons are generated by a code so, depending on what code was input it could have been technically correct.

Which signalbox wasn't manned then ? Not many on the Cambrian since the 80s.
