When I last looked at this, I couldn't find an accreditation test for it, but like you I was sure it was something retailers had to do. RSPA2016 does 2.1.6 cover something along these lines:but it would shock me if that wasn't still an accreditation requirement
The retailer/TIS must use the RCS data to ensure that only ToDable products are sold and the customer is correctly advised where their tickets can be fulfilled. This will inform the customer whether the location at which they intend to print the ticket is a ToDable location.
The TVM will have it‘s own Broadband connection in addition to the ticket offices terminal. It’s not quite that simple regarding the payments but Ticket Offices do get more . How a TVM would operate without a network connect is beyond me so no there are no remote TVMs without a “phone home” facility and just goes to show how little is known about how a TVM works
@OscarH The other thing to note, particularly when using a ticket machine for the first time, is that you wait for all the tickets to print (I think the Customer Receipt is last), and then check you have all your tickets before you leave the machine. It is quite easy to not pick up all the tickets, and very very occasionally, not all tickets are printed and drop into the tray.
