Capping when using buses and tube in same week

A scenario:

Mon - Thurs, I make 3 bus journeys capping at £5.25 per day

Fri, I travel offpeak z1-2 using tube to reach the £8.10 cap, and then make 3 bus journeys.

Have I now achieved a weekly bus cap?

No, you haven't. If you make all the bus journeys on Friday before reaching the zone 1-2 rail cap then you would hit the weekly bus cap first. Free bus journeys, whether hopper, bus cap reached or rail cap reached, do not count towards bus capping.
