I'm looking at travelling on Thursday April 5th after 1500 from Carlisle to Tywyn returning on Monday April 9th after 1500.

What are the best options of splitting as I used to get advances from Preston to Machynlleth but have moved house to Carlisle.

Return 9th April : Advance Single £7.60 Virgin West Coast + Connections

Tywyn dep 1526 > arr Machynlleth 1555 dep 1609 > Wolverhampton arr 1809 dep 1839 arr Carlisle 2100

Passengers who are unable to buy a Virgin Advance ticket for both the outward and return legs of their journey, or unable to specify an exact train for one leg of a return journey, are able to mix and match ticket types and buy an Off-Peak Single (web only) on Virgin Trains routes (at half the price of an Off-Peak Return) for either the outward or return leg of the journey. This money-saving facility is available for website and call centre bookings only.

So therefore this will be your cheapest Option, as there are No advance available on your outward journey, it is giving you this option and explain's above. You will need to either use Virgin's Call Centre or Virgin's Website to get this ticket.
