Chester to Loughborough tickets

Coming back the same day aswell.

If I bought a ticket from Chester to Loughborough it would cost me about £30.60.

But if I did, chester-crewe, crewe-derby, derby-loughborough it would cost me £25.60.

Does anybody have any ideas of a Cheaper way of doing this journey, including, advane booking prices.

Have you had a look at Avantix Traveller?

That combination is fine for a day return but no use if travelling back on a later day, as the comparison is one Off Peak (period) return vs 3 Off Peak Day returns.

Don't bother splitting ticket at Crewe as it is cheaper to get a ticket from Chester to Derby at only £15.10. Then £8.50 return from Derby to Loughborough. Total of £23.60.

Better deal than ever is if you can manage to get a train from Derby to Loughborough that stops at Long Eaton and split the ticket there.
Chester to Long Eaton is same price as Derby at £15.10 and Long Eaton to Loughborough is only £4.90 making the total only £20 return.
