Two young children were seriously injured when they fell from the emergency exit of a moving coach.
An 18-month-old girl and her brother, aged four, from Dewsbury, fell from the bus as it went round a bend on York Road, Doncaster on Sunday afternoon.

A passing motorist took the children to hospital. The boy is being treated for a broken leg and cuts to his head. His sister suffered cuts and bruises.

Investigations by the police and Health and Safety Executive are under way.

Door opened

South Yorkshire Police said the Leyland Tiger coach was operated by Wisdom Coach Hire, a Leeds-based company. No manager at the firm was available for comment on Monday.

The coach was travelling from York Road into Doncaster town centre and was negotiating a left-hand bend near St George's Bridge when the accident happened.

"The rear emergency exit on the offside of the vehicle opened, causing the rear seat passengers to fall approximately six feet from the vehicle," said a police spokesman.

"A passing motorist stopped to offer assistance and took both children by car to the accident and emergency unit at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

"The motorist then returned to the scene to speak with the investigating officers."

Leyland Tiger? No wonder why they fell out. Proberly high amounts of corrosion that caused it.

Nice attempt at a link, but sadly it was a coach company, not a bs company! ;)

Anyway, surely it is the victims' fault for not wearing seatbelts!
