Chiltern Anytime Day Return - can I use any train?

Hi.

Apologies, but I haven’t been on a train since the start of lockdown 1, so I’m a bit rusty on the rules.

I have to go from Banbury to Birmingham Snow Hill next Wednesday. I’ve joined the 21st century and downloaded the Chiltern app and bought e-tickets, purchasing a Chiltern only Anytime Day Return. When I booked I had to select specific trains. Outbound that’s fine, but I’m not sure what time I’m coming back. So, do I have to stick with the train I’ve selected, or as it’s an ADR, can I use any Chiltern service on the way home?

Thanks.

Restrictions are based on the ticket itself rather than the trains you select (although of course, the trains you select influence the ticket you're given) - an Anytime Day Return which you hold is indeed valid on any Chiltern service both there and back.

For future reference, your e-ticket (at least if it's the PDF version) will state the restrictions on your ticket and where to find out more information about your ticket's restrictions if they have them (i.e. usually with a link to the relevant ticket restriction itself, such as nre.co.uk/2V).
