supposed to be a June start. Completed stage 1 and waiting on results to see if we move to the stage 2 for the afternoon. So paper tests were group bourden, train ability for rules, so read the passage answer the questions, then part 2 cable and dials. Not sure of the name of the tests but we then had count the number of high and low tones. Then doing the look up in a phone book followed by doing both at the same time.
which depot did you apply to?

Curious if that’s because of the June course start date and a lot of people not able to do that due to booked holidays hence people pulling out and not wasting a life etc..?

Hey guys,
do you have any tips for the OPC assessments? I have mine on May 1st for the June intake and would really appreciate some words of wisdom :)

Lots of practice for the group bourden, the others don’t really need any prior practice that really makes a difference. Read and re-read the test instructions, as I found out I should have done that today.

Not really. This is one of the many reasons what talent pools are for. If a course suddenly needs numbers, or an additional course needs to run due to business needs, or even to increase the numbers on a planned course due to drivers being promoted/leaving the business, company or retiring, they can dip straight into the talent pool instead of having to run a job advert and sifting which can take time. With the course planned for June as identified, time is already short.

It can be rather frustrating for an applicant who may indeed wait in a talent pool for an extended amount of time and then receive a email or phone call out of the blue, but then again that’s what it’s there for.

There is alot to consider when putting a course, lots of moving parts that have to slot together and align. Often not seen from the applicants point of view. Logistics and planning is crucial.

They give you a blank page to make notes, they are really adamant about not marking the test booklets as they are reused. You put your answers onto a grid on a separate booklet they give you.
Oh okay cool. What time roughly was your stage 1 and what time did you finish?

I've searched for test examples of the bourdon test and also the dails test but I can find them anywhere, Does have anyone have any links that could point me in the right direction please? Would be greatly appreciated.

Can you give anymore insight why?
I’m just no good at talking about myself. If a bomb went off I’d be calm as anything (exaggerated example) but to talk about it under pressure from the interviewer I just fall apart. If that makes sense. Some people are good at it, I’m just not.

Horrible ain't it lol
I couldn’t have been more prepared with my answers, did my research on the 6 questions and they were all spot on, like I mentioned above I’m just no good at talking about myself, trying to explain whilst constantly being interrupted throws you off, but that’s what they’re testing so I guess I’m not cut out to be a train driver

I've heard that there aren't any spaces on the June course for Marylebone, does anyone know if there are still spaces for Aylesbury?
