I'm hoping to go away at the end of May for a week to Wendover (Bucks) but being a non-driver I will be reliant on public transport (trains mainly) for the week.

Either I'm being very dense, or it's not there yet but I can't find details of any Chiltern/Met Line engineering works for the period 27/5-3/6.

Is it safe to assume that for the weekend/bank holiday, trains will run on the Aylesbury-Marylebone line either into Marylebone or as far as Harrow-on-the-Hill for the Met Line... or could it possibly be the case that neither Chiltern nor Metropolitan services will be running during that period?

Also, is it safe to assume that weekdays will be unaffected by engineering works?

Obviously, I need to book to go away, but I don't want to book it, only to find there will be no way of getting about once I'm there.

Due to various problems with Chiltern recently; they are only publishing details of their alterations a few weeks in advance.

http://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/tickets-and-times/changes

Keep an eye on that website; if there are any changes then there will be updates there.

If there are engineering works, then you may have to travel an alternative route, and part of your journey may be on a rail replacement omnibus or by London Underground.

Looking at TfL's six month plan, there are currently no planned engineering works on the Met that weekend.

That doesn't mean there won't be any Chiltern works, however...

As always, check nearer the time.

Cheers,

The trouble is I need to get on and book because it's under 7 weeks away now. I'm not so bothered about the weekends, but can one assume that weekday services will be unaffected?

I have never known any week day closures that would cause major problems. When there are closures, the alternative bus services are regular, even if they do add to journey time.

Weekday services are unlikely to be affected.

They do have contingency ticket acceptance plans and/or rail replacement buses in the event that there are engineering works.

I suppose Tring is not too far away if you get *really* stuck, but even at a weekend there's always some combination of CR, Met line, buses etc.

Not too many weekday engineering works unless it's unforseen, the commuters get all shirty otherwise.
