Looking at timings, yesterday seems to have been a "difficult" day for Chiltern Railways
A number of problems seem to have occurred - anyone have any details, please?

Failure at Biceter North, London Road crossing stuck down, Freightliner failed at Hatton North Junction that stopped the London Midland to SOA using Hatton North, Obstruction on the line at Hereford delayed the 2 trains that use Hinksey.....

They all did. This disruption also caused LM to get all out of sync with trains flying through Solihull and terminating early at Snow Hill, when they should have carried on through. Announcements on the train said people for Stourbridge etc. should alight and await further instructions.

I walked from Moor St to New St and caught the 17:10 ex Scotland Pendolino which was the busiest I have ever seen one of these 11 coach trains. It was like a charity 'how many people can we get in a mini?' event. One break down and a cancellation put three rush hour passenger loads on to one.

XC passengers of course noticed a usual service.

I heard that a unit failed in the morning (brakes) and the evening Kidderminster 68 was terminated short of its destination
Any truth in the above?
Thanks for all the other info
Seems it was a very difficult day

In addition, the two units that stable overnight at High Wycombe suffered a severe graffiti attack and had to be taken out of service, causing the cancellation of the 06.09 service to London. The other affected service, the 06.05 to Banbury was started from Princes Risborough using a fresh unit.

I had the misfortune to be on the 19:32 Marylebone to Aylesbury last night which departed London late due to the earlier problems and then got caught up in an LUL signal failure at Harrow-on-th-Hill. Only two carriages as well and it was packed due to earlier cancellations... At least the air-conditioning in the 165 was working well. It was like sitting in a walk in freezer!

There's a report in the Oxford Times.

For those who require a quote:

POLICE have been called after a level crossing over a railway malfunctioned for a second day in a row.

Motorists grew concerned when the barriers at London Road level crossing in Bicester were stuck in the up position and the lights, which warn of approaching trains, were flashing at the same time.

Thames Valley Police said it was called at 2.41pm by concerned members of public and sent officers.

Network Rail was called at the same time and had engineers on site to start investigating by 3.10pm.

Spokeswoman Rachel Groves said the problem was the same one that occured yesterday afternoon and said it was thought to be heat-related but that was being investigated.

She said that the nearest signalman to the level crossing would have been aware as soon as the barrier started to malfunction and would have alerted approaching drivers to stop before the level crossing and await further instructions, meaning the public was not put at risk.

She said engineers would fix the problem 'as soon as possible'.

It's entirely normal for police - either BTP or the local constabulary - to be notified and to attend in events of level crossing malfunction.
