Hi, Can anyone provide insight of what a whole day looks like at the OPC for stage 2 assessments? Is it computer tests (Grey Square, Photo Memory & 2 handed coordination) then if passed its an SJT & pre interview questions and then MMI? Missing anything? Thanks!

Computer tests as well as paper tests such as Group Bourdon and so on.

I didn't realise there were two 'more about you' questionnaires. I've completed the first one however haven't received a follow up yet so I'm still staying positive.

There aren't two 'more about you' questionnaires. The first questionnaire is the basic questions about where you live, where did you hear about the job etc, the second is the SJE-type questionnaire. Next stage after that for successful candidates would be VSE.

I thought as much. Just following the previous post which mentioned a second questionnaire for Marylebone. I have not had one yet but staying hopeful.

Think you have it about right there as far as the Stage 2 assessments go, although I am 99% sure Stage 1 and 2 are done on the same day with Chiltern.

Hi DH,

Nope, it’s been very quiet from Chiltern the last month or so. Have a look back through the last couple of pages. Think we are expecting to hear back soon.

I didn't realise there were two 'more about you' questionnaires. I've completed the first one however haven't received a follow up yet so I'm still staying positive. My Aylesbury application was turned down which was probably due to the distance (I think it was marginally outside of the 45 mins) but hopefully still being considered for Marylebone.

As a side note, does anyone know that if I've been turned down for one depot, am I correct in assuming that I'm still being considered for the other depots I've applied for? The DB portal shows one closed application but the other is still very much showing as 'in process'. Any pointers would be helpful.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Chiltern for Moor St, I recently applied for Avanti and got through to M7 SJT and VSE stage, failed the SJT but passed the VSE, do Chiltern require the M7 SJT ? I have completed the more about you and the questionnaire....

Just the VSE with Chiltern so no worries there.

It’s National, that document you probably saw is quite old now. I believe the person who gave the info about it being National works for Chiltern.

WMR are enhanced but they didn’t do the VSE or M7SJT when I passed with them in 2019. May have changed since then.

I explained exactly what standard Chiltern use in post #438. The OPC document is dated 01/09/2020 so be aware that information may be out of date for other TOCs also. There is no fixed 'enhanced' standard, it varies from TOC to TOC.

Hello there,

Just received confirmation that I successfully passed the driver assessments at OPC. I’m applying to Banbury and was wondering if anyone had heard about DMI’s.

Very excited and even more nervous

I didn’t think anyone had heard back from the online SJT yet, let alone getting to the assessments.

Yes, I did mine yesterday and was very surprised and happy to be called and told I’d passed whilst driving home. Everyone I was with was a Banbury applicant. I believe there are more this week coming and next week.

They phoned you and told you? That is unusual. I’ve only ever received email confirmation. Well done on passing though and good luck at the DMI.

Yeah it was a bloke from XC I believe they assist with the recruitment. It was just over an hour after I left, there was only 2 of us by the end though

Hi I just received an email saying

Thank you for taking the time to apply for the Apprentice Train Driver position and completing the Questionnaire. We would like to learn more about you and have prepared some further questions for you to answer. We ask that you follow this link and submit only once.

Does anyone know what this 2nd questionnaire entails? I already did complete the 1st questionnaire a month ago or so which again was asking the same thing

Sounds like a SJE type questionnaire but can’t really tell from the information you’ve posted. I’m sure you’ll figure it out once you’ve logged in. Good luck.

People have already been offered the job for some depots. Plenty of candidates already have their passes, and some have got through with nothing.

No never, I have a friend who works for LNER who has been giving me hints, but any tips would be very welcome.

You'll find the DMI is more relaxed than the MMI you'll have done with the OPC. There's an opportunity to talk about yourself and the conversation tends to flow nicely before you get into the questions themselves. The people I've interviewed with over the last few years have been very personable and the questions are mainly around the company, competency etc, so similar to a normal job interview in that regard. I found using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for answering questions (as I had done in my MMI), helped.

That’s a great help thank you for the insight. I’ve been doing my research on Chiltern and have had some great hints and tips from some of the members on here. Fingers crossed.

Really? Can't see how people have got through with nothing, especially when there has been no mention on this forum as such.

I understand those with OPC passes being pushed to the front of the queue.

I just hope there is chance for 1st applicants like myself.
