e are delighted to announce that the C&PRR has finally concluded a lease with Network Rail for the land and sidings west of Princes Risborough station.
Our sincere thanks go to those in Network Rail and Chiltern Railways who have supported us over the last couple of years in securing the lease, and the many other agreements and contracts necessary to get where we are.
The lease and the other arrangements that we have with Network Rail for running our trains into Princes Risborough, are innovative and novel. As last Summer, we will continue to run over NRs Thame Branch Siding to connect between our line at Thame Junction and our newly acquired land at Princes Risborough. NR will continue to be able to stable tampers and other maintenance plant on what are now our sidings.
Now the work really begins... over the coming months there's platform restoration/rebuilding, track recovery and relaying, point assembly and installation, fencing, and the list is endless. But it won't happen any time soon unless we can get more volunteers and anyone with any practical inclination towards building (or DIY) please contact John, Volunteer Training Manager, at [email protected]
Obtaining this lease is a major step forward. Some of us thought it was imminent when we joined many years ago - but we are there now, and we have some serious catching up to do!
