Chronotrains website showing 5 hours journey times

https://www.chronotrains.com/ shows you how far you can travel from each station in Europe in less than 5 hours.

I am not connected with the site but I wanted to share it.

I don't think this site is useful. It assumes the interchange time is 20 minutes when in reality the default is only 5 minutes. Also, how does the site handle the train frequency as well? Does it treat a line running every half an hour as an assumed waiting time of 15 minutes?

I think it's interesting to compare train coverage against the need to fly or drive within a particular country. Germany has no gaps on that map from most German cities so you can travel green, but for France and Spain it's clear that the train isn't sufficient for many journeys.

Not to mention Faro to Seville - these are major conurbations which are not connected by rail according to that map!

Nor in reality - an estuary and an international border being obstacles!

No it isn't! It typically varies from 2-10 minutes, and longer in eg Spain (and some UK stations).

It ignores actual interchanges altogether AFAIK.
It seems to be designed for comparison rather than journey planning.
