On Saturday 24th November I went to Retford Station to film Union of South Africa on The Tynesider rail tour. On my way home, while crossing the bridge over the Lincoln-Sheffield line, I noticed a DMU in the platform. I waited a few minutes with my camcorder at the ready and, after a few minute delay (which is strange as they never tend to wait long at Retford) it set off with a rather bad wheel flat!
I wasn't sure what class of train it was at first. I knew it was a Sprinter which is not uncommon as, while Pacers normally work the route, Class 153's often do as well. In fact, even 158's have been known on a Sunday. I missed the unit number and couldn't see the layout of the doors (the only way you can really tell them apart!)
It was only when I reviewed the footage that I discovered it was a Class 150, which I was surprised about as I have never seen or heard about them on the route. The question is, do the Class 150's normally operate the Lincoln to Sheffield line, or could it be that the booked unit failed and this was the only alternative. It was a Lincoln to Adwick service if it helps.
Thanks
Ryan
