Class 172 to Richmond

There will be a rare chance to ride a Class 172 DMU in passenger service to Richmond next week. The trains are being run to try keep them in good working order during the current Gospel Oak - Barking closure.

Fair enough they want to run them but I thought they would have ran empty to somewhere instead of having 5 cars of passengers squeezing onto a 2 car?

Nevertheless what days are these running?

If RTT is anything to go by, they're in the system as unadvertised, additional passenger services running Monday-Friday.

Yep, of the few TOCs which run diesel stock DOO(P), London Overground are one.

I dread to think how you'd resource guards for that service, anyway. There must be only a handful of guards, if that, who sign it - possibly, I suppose, for the purposes of railtours - who would have to route-conduct someone with 172 competency...

LO don't have any guards, all the 172's are DOO and are worked by Euston & Willesden drivers. Only Watford depot does not have any work on the GOBLIN.
