Class 180 Front Hatches

The covers for the couplers are never closed. Have they been removed or are they just left up for convenience?

It's happened at least twice:

They have all been removed .There was a proposal from Voith to fit a none extending coupler that has a fairing round it that would reduce cab draughts but as with everything 180 nobody wants to pay

No as they don't have retractable couplers.
