Class 197 potential problems

Took 197006 from Llandudno Junction up the Conwy valley line to Blaenau Ffestiniog today and really enjoyed the scenery. What i didn't enjoy though was hearing the train virtually destroy itself along the line. Got me thinking of all the cracks that are forming with new trains, especially around the yaw dampers.
Companies like CAF are very good at providing well built trains but not necessarily for the environment they are expected to ply their trade.
Is this a known issue?

You've not come across the rail industry nickname for CAF I take it? :)

In all seriousness, the new CAF trains do not ride well on UK track where other older trains ride better, sometimes at higher speeds too.

If you want some real destructive crunching noises, try a CAF 397 at 110mph on the northern WCML for some extra "thrashing"... ;)

Oh dear, I did, earlier this week from Glasgow to Carlisle on a 397!
I fear for these particular units!

Oh dear, oh well you know the score at least!

Hmm, I expect if they were due any mods due to the "cracking" issues they'd have had them but it seemed to be more a Hitachi issue than a CAF one unless I'm mistaken in my recollection.

Pretty sure Northern had cracking issues on the 195's - I'd hope that they fixed this problem for the 197's

‘Destroying it self?’ In what way?

And the issue with yaw dampers on 195s were fixed a long time ago.
Not aware of any issues with 197s unless you know differently?

Only CAF related cracking issues which come to mind were on the Ubros 3 trams in West Midlands.

Didn't the Mk5's (built by CAF) have cracking issues too?

It is rather alarming when you are sitting over a bogie on a Civity and you can hear (and) feel it knocking about almost as if something is broken!
