Class 222 at Crewe

On Tuesday last there was a EMR 222 at Crewe. Any idea why?

Crewe to Derby? Seen a few Class 222’s on YouTube videos so my guess is they were running on that route

Was speaking to a staff member and the 153 had no saloon heat and barely any cab heating so was taken out of service at Derby but were no spare 15x so the 222 was used.

Thanks. Seemed a bit of a sight to see it on a local service between Crewe to Derby. Shame I was going south.

Currently on 222103 from Crewe to Derby . According to EMR app the 11:07 from Crewe was upgraded from 1 carriage to 4 carriages due to a fault on the train.

Indeed, I remember getting a Class 222 once from Stoke On Trent to Derby about 3 maybe 4 years ago - just think it was standing in for the booked Class 15X.

Used to see them regularly on sunday services. That was before may 2019 and EMR switchover however. Not sure what Sundays are like now???
