Seems very strange to name a loco when they will be leaving Chiltern in a few months?
In all fairness, it's probably just named Birmingham Flyer or something similar.

has it actually been confirmed that theyre leaving though? and this may be wrong but ive heard its named after someone from chiltern who sadly passed due to covid, so if it is that then its a nice gesture

The 68s and Mk.3s only have funding until just after the Commonwealth Games. DfT hasn't made a decision post that point but Chiltern have had to draw up timetables and unit diagrams if they are withdrawn.

Make no mistake the DfT want them gone and the only reason they are still around is because of the Commonwealth Games.

Driver of 1010 down today told me (at High Wycombe) that it is going to be renamed after a former driver who has passed away.

That's a nice touch. The Mem travelled behind it the other week from Warwick - Brum. I can tell her what was behind the curtain now.
