So with the above, we’ve now got units stored at;
Worksop
Wembley
Long Marston
Marchwood
Eastleigh Arlington
Eastleigh TRSMD
Clapham Yard

Do we know where the rest of the units are across the SWR Network - eg Bournemouth, Shepparton etc?

I suppose if they were all in one place, that would need 9.4 miles of secure siding

Even if you found somewhere with 775m sidings (normal longest length used for UK trains), would need 22 sidings (3 full length + 5car =700m, cant get 4 trains in).

I doubt there is anywhere in Southern England with that much spare siding space even if it wasn't secure and suitable.

I saw 701040 passing Southampton today. Last I knew that one was at Worksop...when did it come south?

5Q70 Eastleigh to long marston ran today via west london ,swindon, kemble and worcester with 47749 + 701 004
It would appear that the 701s are leaving South Western Railway faster than any more are being delivered. One every day. Is that true ?.

Worksop is where a lot of units from derby go for storage.
Also where a lot of units seem to be heading before completion. I’m not sure how the production line seems to be working at Litchurch lane, but it seems to involve sending out part completed units for storage before returning back to Derby for completion.

Can anyone advise which trains are built

I think (please advise if wrong)
10car 701 001-052 built and seen, stored various locations
10car 701 053-060 possibly still at Derby or Worksop
5car 701 509 & 512 doing tests
5car 710 501-508, 510-511, 513-530 not delivered

Not clear to me if missing units are finished and stored, or part built

Why are they at Worksop?

Worksop has lots of storage (think it was used for many years for coal hopper wagons needing attention), and is not that far from Derby

I did read somewhere recently that every unit is now in some state of build so too late for those who suggested cancelling part of the order!

How do they get from Derby to Worksop generally, do they go via Sheffield or up the Robin Hood line using the triangle junction near Nottingham?

May someone please remind me how many toilets per 5 and 10 car set these have? And how many are disabled ones compared to regular ones?
1 toilet on the 5 cars and 2 toilets on the 10 cars. As far as disabled toilets go, your guess is as good as mine; I reckon they will all be accessible considering the 5 car is only fitted with a single toilet and hence it must be a disabled one.

That is correct.

What happened to the plan for the 5-car units to have inter unit gangways? I'm sure the early drawings had them but note that this was questioned in 2019 and it was said then that they weren't planned.

Never saw any drawings with them. Are you perhaps confusing them with the 730s.

Still surprised that they went through all that fuss and problems to redesign the cab just for the 701s, and yet didn't go for a gangway design.

End gangways would be a pointless expense on two thirds of the units, as the 10-car sets are too long to work in multiple with anything else.

And designing an end gangway just for the 5-car fleet would add more cost.

Nothing like a 15 car set running on a 10 car railway!
