The three previous transfers were pairs, it isn’t unexpected. Don’t know numbers. So it was a pair? Any idea which units made the move?
I never said it was. No harm in gaining clarity though. The three previous transfers were pairs, it isn’t unexpected. Don’t know numbers.
Yeah, it was 707009 & 010Was this another 707 moving from West to East?
Lovely, thanks very much!Yeah, it was 707009 & 010
Guessing really, but it might be to do with their relative positions in the maintenance cycle. Units 1 and 2 were used for type approval, including the AC running which IIRC turned out to have a few false starts. So they weren’t the first units into service, I think they only started running in passenger service about half through the class introduction. So SE have 3/4/5/6/7/8 and now 9/10 Any reason why 1/2 haven't gone to SE yet ?
You're welcomed to having crush loaded Class 319s leaving people behind at stations.I’d happily take the 319s back. The 700s are a dull, soulless experience.
My point exactly, I commute on them daily and they're a big improvement on previous trains. It's a commuter train. I'll take dull and soulless but able to get on and not sweat out 5 litres on my journey home over a 'characterful' 319. The whole point of them is mass transit, which they do really well.
I commute on them daily too and would agree, if only for the AC (on days like this especially). That said I get a declassified first class seat every day and am only on there for 15 minutes. I might feel differently if i was travelling from Brighton or Huntingdon. The reality is somewhere in the middle ground - they are better than the 319s but a wasted opportunity to create a high quality passenger experience for longer distance passengers. In my view it was a mistake to think the same train could serve the needs of the Sutton/Wimbledon and Catford loops and of long trips as far as Cambridge and Liittlehampton. You're welcomed to having crush loaded Class 319s leaving people behind at stations.

There's a great video on the transition of the units from SWT red to SER blue here.
It does seem the red bits will be covered which will probably be paintedLooks like they’re not going to cover the little red details in some places… not great, not terrible
Finally a unit in blue! Interesting that they are installing patterned seats like on the Connex 375s and the seat handles are orange, again like the 375s and 465s used to be in yellow door days gone by. I would have thought they would have gone for the newer blue line seats on the refurb 375s and Networkers, accompanied by blue handles. Still nice though! There's a great video on the transition of the units from SWT red to SER blue here.
So at last proof to the doubters that the trains are being re-liveried (and in blue, not white) and receiving new seat covers. There's a great video on the transition of the units from SWT red to SER blue here.
So they do. Perhaps the covers are readily available to that design given they are the same seats.Interesting that the seat covers look more like the 700/717s rather than SE in the original graphics.
376s are definitely the ones in dire need of attention externally as well. A train in ex-stagecoach colours is apparently far worse than one running in ex-connex livery…Does seem weird to go to that effort inside on a 3 year old train when the networkers really could do with some TLC (even a deep clean would be good) as could 376s after 17 years.
Rather wasteful in the current situation but fear not the taxpayer can pay for this when other trains are in a poor condition. So at last proof to the doubters that the trains are being re-liveried (and in blue, not white) and receiving new seat covers.
It's not paint, it's vinyl.Isn’t it silly repainting trains when the railway is going to be completely rebranded soon (GBR)
Yes, I agree. It will of course have been sanctioned by the DfT.Rather wasteful in the current situation but fear not the taxpayer can pay for this when other trains are in a poor condition.
colourblindness doing its best.. are the doors light blue? ie 375 ones etc. cheers
Agreed. NO Southeastern commuter will get on a 707 and recoil in disgust because the seat covers are SWT onesDoes seem weird to go to that effort inside on a 3 year old train when the networkers really could do with some TLC (even a deep clean would be good) as could 376s after 17 years.
No passenger is going to care about red seats.
The threadbare, filthy and falling apart seats on other stock?
Its a shame the hand rails are staying orange. Would be far better if they were in SE blue to match the 375sThere's a great video on the transition of the units from SWT red to SER blue here.
The whole process of repainting handrails is actually rather expensive. They have to be removed then be treated with a special coating. Its a shame the hand rails are staying orange. Would be far better if they were in SE blue to match the 375s
Yes, the SWR 707s still look like new trains inside. I had to laugh when on one of their recent videos SE said they were going to deep clean the interiors of the 707s. They don't need deep cleaning - but the Networkers certainly do!Agreed. NO Southeastern commuter will get on a 707 and recoil in disgust because the seat covers are SWT ones
A ridiculous waste of money when you see how shabby the Networkers and especially the 376s are, especially as the 707s are currently only a short term solution before a full Networker replacement plan is worked out
