I think Wikipedia has incorrectly got Lowton as Lewton, therefore I've amended my original entry.

There have been doubts expressed in the past concerning Haydock Racecourse, but there was one station that was said to be on this line that closed as early as 1902.

Let us remember what the journey preamble stated. After the North Union Railway, the next line to be traversed is the Liverpool and Manchester Railway.

Sorry, Tim, but that station is in the Manchester-bound direction. After Parkside (2nd site), we would then pass through Parkside (1st site), then the open stations of Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown, where we would then access the next line of this journey, the Warrington and Newton Railway.
