This is very much an open station, reopened on 12th June 2005 and built on the same site as the original station that closed.

Having looked stuff up -- good grief ! Often, I'm ignorant -- with tendency to think that the world ended for Britain's national rail system, some time in the 1970s.

We next move to England for the next journey.......

This is number 654 in the series so far.....

The journey starts at the closed station of Batley (GNR)...via Earlsheaton and Flushdyke
It follows the line of the GNR Batley (GNR) to Leeds Central line.
It then follows the line of the GNR Ardsley to Laisterdyke line.
It then follows the line of the GNR Laisterdyke to Low Moor line...via Bowling
It then follows the line of the LYR Pickle Bridge line.
It then follows the line of the Manchester and Leeds Railway...note there are both "second" and "first stations"
It then follows the line of the LYR Rochdale to Bacup line
It then follows the line of the ELR Bacup to Rawtenstall line
It then follows the line of the ELR/LYR Rawtenstall to Bury line
It then follows the line of the Manchester, Bury and Rossendale Railway
It then follows the line of the Manchester and Bolton Railway
It then follows the line of the Manchester and Leeds Railway
It then follows the line of the Ashton, Stalybridge and Liverpool Junction Railway
It then follows the line of the LNWR Micklehurst Loop Line
It then follows the line of the Huddersfield and Manchester Railway
It then follows the line of the LNWR Leeds to Manchester Railway
It then follows the line of the LNWR Leeds New Line
It then follows the line of the Leeds and Bradford Railway
It then follows the line of the Leeds and Bradford Extension Railway
It then follows the line of the Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington and Colne Extension Railway..via Huncoat (1st station) and Rishton (1st station)
It then follows the line of the Blackburn and Preston Railway
It then follows the line of the West Lancashire Railway
The journey ends at the closed station of Southport Central

The first closed station on this journey is Batley (GNR)
