I recall seeing a demolition train at Potter Heigham on the M&GN somewhere about 1960 and feeling very sad about it. I wrote a poem about it which my mother pushed me into submitting for a school competition. Unfortunately it won a prize so I had to read it out in front of the whole school. :oops::oops::oops::oops:

Mocked as a train-spotting-nerd for the rest of your time at that school? -- the things we suffer for our hobby...

We next move to Wales for the next journey.....

This is number 1052 in the series so far.....

The journey starts at the closed station of Scafell Halt
It follows the line of the Llanidloes and Newtown Railway
It then follows the line of the Newtown and Machynlleth Railway
It then follows the line of the Aberystwith (sic) and Welsh Coast Railway
It then follows the line of the Carnarvonshire Railway
It then follows the line of the Bangor and Carnarvon Railway...note 1st and 2nd stations
It then follows the line of the Chester and Holyhead Railway
It then follows the line of the Mold Railway
It then follows the line of the Mold and Denbigh Junction Railway
It then follows the line of the Denbigh, Ruthin and Corwen Railway
It then follows the line of the GWR Ruabon to Barmouth Line
The journey ends at the closed station of Arthog

The first closed station on this journey is Scafell Halt
