Ambergate is the area where the line we are on met the North Midland Railway. From that point onwards south to Derby that we now take, both lines used the same route'.

Let me clarify Ambergate matters. On the line we are on the two closed Ambergate stations in the direction we are travelling would be:-
Ambergate (1st station...closed in 1863)
Ambergate (2nd station..closed in 1876)

Your posting of Belper (1st station) above is correct as the next closed station that follows after these, so I will respond to that with....
